As spring begins to bloom again here in Austin, Texas I’m reminded of these lovely peonies that I photographed in winter last year.
It’s kind of funny how I didn’t expect the photos to happen. I was on my way to photograph a new series in the studio, and on the way out I was suddenly struck by the beauty of these flowers on my kitchen counter. It sounds cheesy, but I couldn’t stop admiring how the petals were bloomed out, close to dropping, and even more beautiful than when I first brought home the young buds. I paused on the first photo shoot and created a simple set for these peonies so I could shoot them immediately.
I imagined these photos flowing together in a collage. If you’re interested in seeing how the piece turned out, check out the post on Instagram.
